Without a doubt, labeled storage bins are the easiest way to keep toys and things organized. Plus, this allows kids to pitch in during clean up time since they’ll know exactly where things go. Even if you don’t have kids, storage cubes or woven baskets can work wonderfully in your main living spaces to neatly and beautifully store all your extras.

Containers are another great way to organize the kitchen. Get rid of odd sized packaging from the store and organize your pantry or cabinets with clear plastic containers. This will make sure nothing gets lost in the back and you can easily see when you’re running low on certain items.

Reclaim Unused Space

Turn the dead space under the stairs into pull-out storage compartments. Cut into the drywall between the studs and make bins, shelves, or even hanging storage to hold whatever items you need in the vicinity of the stairs.

Stairs aren’t the only area in your home with unused space. Do you have an awkward space in your laundry area that has turned into a lost sock graveyard? Take the space back by adding shelving for laundry baskets, detergents or your iron.

Under the deck can often be a scary space filled with spiders and other insects. Sheeting it out can add firewood, yard tools or lawn game storage. You can even add doors to create a sleek look when everything is put away behind closed doors.

Utilize Vertical Space

Keep toys and books off the floor when you use vertical storage solutions like shelving.

Take it up to new heights by using the head room in your garage to install a motorized pulley system that lets you store ice chests, camping gear and other bulky items overhead.

Pegboards are another great way to organize toys, craft supplies, kitchen supplies, and more! Julia Child was well known for her pegboard kitchen wall. She outlined everything on the wall so when she took things down she knew exactly where to put them back when she was done.
